I underetasjen vises et tverrsnitt av både den historiske og den moderne samlingen. Med startpunkt i møbler og sølv fra 1500-tallet, kan besøkende vandre gjennom kunsthåndverkets og industridesignens historie, med Memphis’ design fra 1980-tallet som det nyeste interiøret. Underveis kan man se nærmere på klassikere fra hele Europa. Moderne kunsthåndverk er også representert – med både smykker, glass, keramikk og nyere tekstilarbeider.
Foreningen Nordenfjeldske Kunstindustrimuseums Venner støtter museets arbeid med å ta vare på og formidle kunsthåndverk og design. Se venneforeningens hjemmeside for mer info, og bli medlem ved å sende epost til [email protected].
